  • T/F: Once you have a selected set of features, you can add or remove features from the set using another query T
  • T/F: A map created to present analysis results typically needs minimal context F
  • From where does an ArcGIS report draw its information? Attribute Table
  • After making changes to a map that will be included in a report, what must you do? Export the map to a filethat can be inserted in a report
  • When executing a GIS analysis, which items below is recommended? Use a copy of your data
  • T/F: A definition query allows you to display a subset of features that meet specific criteria. T
  • Before creating a report in ArcMap, what can you do to make the data more understandble to report readers? Assign meaningful alisases to cryptic filed names that will display in the report
  • T/F When performing a GIS analysis, the first step is to clearly define the problem to be analyzed T/F Once you have a selected set of features, you can add or remove features from the set using another query
  • Seven steps for the GIS analytical process Define the problemDefine criteriaIdentify the data you needPlan the analysisPrepare the data for analysisExecute the analysisExamine and present the results
  • Compound Expressions Expressions (Queries) that contain multiple criteria
  • What is a definition Query useful for? It is a way to eliminate features that aren't of interest from the map display and also save processing time
  • Difference between finding a feature by attributes and a location query A location query is a descriptive statement.
  • 3 parts to a Location Query A target (select form) layerA type of spatial relationshipA spatially related layer
  • Four spatial relationships Distance, containment, intersection, and adjacency
  • Definition query A type of attribute query in which the query expression used to select features is a property of the layer and defines which features from the feature class will be included in the layer
  • Join Appending the fields of one table to those of another through an attribute or field common to both tables. A join is usually used to attach more attributes to the attribute table of a geographic layer.
  • Query A request that selects features or records from a database. A query is often written as a statement or logical expression.
  • Query expression An expression used to select features with particular attribute values. Query expressions are generally formed as an SQL statement and have three parts: an attribute, an operator, and an attribute value. Query expressions can be linked together to include multiple criteria.
  • Selected set A subset of features in a layer or records in a table that is chosen by the user.
  • Workflow diagramm A diagram created to organize and plan a GIS analysis. A workflow diagram should identify the sequence of steps to be performed, the tools to be used, and the data to be input and produced at each step of the analysis.
