- Close-out phase The close-out phase is the systematic completion of the project. This involves a post-calculation, the debrief, creation of a final report and filing of all important documents. The focus in this phase is on securing all insights, the so-called "lessons learned". The final step in the project is to return the resources, dissolve the project organisation and release the project managers from their responsibilities.
- Summary Project close-out can be divided into product acceptance, final project analysis, the collating (das Zusammentragen) of lessons learned and the project dissolution. A product acceptance protocol consists of the handover (from project manager to project owner) and a takeover protocol (from project owner to project manager). Project close-out is not just important from a project point of view (evaluation of success of the project), but also from a company's point of view (learning for future projects). The project completion workshop secures the common understanding of the stakeholders, and marks the emotional completion for the project team.
