  • fluorescence intensity quantification - median, mean, geometric mean 1. Median: midpoint of population. Preferred method to measure MFI of a logarithmic histogram. 2. Mean: Sum of the n individual values of a group divided by n, not good for log data, more easily skewed by outliers 3. Geometric mean: Without going into too much mathematical detail, the geometric mean compensates for the shape and is considered the second best choice of describing the MFI of a logarithmic histogram.
  • why logarithmic quantification? graphing parameters with a wide dynamic range on exponential (multiplicative) differences between values.  eg. during fluorescence when some values are thousand times higher
