Biochemistry (Fach) / Glucose metabolsim (Lektion)
- Glycolysis takes place in the cytosol results in pyruvate net gain: 2 ATP + 2 NADH
- regulatory points of glycolysis PEP to Pyruvate + ATP [pyruvate kinase] F6P to F1, 6P [phosphpfructokinase] Glucose to G6P [Heokinase]
- Glycogen storage requires energy provided by hydrolysis of UTP (to AP involved)
- Cori cycle muscles produce lactate from, glucose (low NAD+/NADH) bloodstream transports lactate to liver liver converts lactate back to glucose /high NAD+/NADH)
- Alanine/Cahill Cycle muscles produce alanine from glucose transported to liver where it is converted to glucose advantage: transport of amino acid to liver for detoxification disadvantage: less efficient than cori cycle
- pentose phosphate pathway alternative to glycolysis mainly produces 5-carbon sugars from NADH
