Immunology (Fach) / Allergy and Auoimmunity (Lektion)
- Coombs and Gell classification four types of hypersensitivity and autoimmunity: Type 1: IgE mediated Type 2: IgG -> complement and ADCC Type 3: IgG immune complexes Type 4: Th1 mediated -> activated macrophages -> delayed type hypersensitivity
- Type 1 Hypersensitivity IgE binds allergen and iduces mast cell degranulation examples: hayfever, food allergies
- Type 2 hypersensitivity ADCC: NK cells bind IgG and induces cytotoxicity to target cell which expresses antigen on surface examples: Rhesus antigen
- Type 3 hypersensitivity Immune complex deposition example: SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus)
- Type 4 hypersensitivity Th1 recognises antigens, activates macrophages via cytokines, macrophage secretes inflammatory mediators delayed hypersensitivity examples: contact, dermatitis
- Mast cells and basophils (type 1) secrete histmine by cross-linking of FcεR
- Mediators (type 1) IL5 + IL13 , IL6 + TNFα -> recrute eosinophils, neutrophils, and lymphocytes histamine serotonine (enhances histamine effects)
- 3 types of type 4 hypersensitivity contact, tuberculin, granulomatous
- Auto-immunity loss of self-tolerance: inappropriate adaptive response
- auto-infalmmatory dysregulation of the innate immune system
