- British ppl and the rest of the world - many foreign ways of doing things are admired and greater openness to foreign influences - modern british = not chauvinistic (only maybe expressed through ignorance) - know not that much about europe - very bad in learning other langs. / are lazy = fluency in other langs is exotic
- the British state and the erst of the world - small remnants of the british empire = several islands want to stay this way --> 1.) good / pride = suggest how beneficial the british imperial administration must have been --> 2.) bad / embarrassment = possession of colonial territories does not fit with the image of a modern democratic state, and irritation because it costs money - british military interventions --> opinions = lukewarm - still opinion that britain should be involved in peacemaking in the world / peacekeeping
