- proprietorship a type of business, that is run and owned by one individual. Owner receives all lprofits. unlimitet responsibility for losses, debts also Sole trader!!!
- partnerships pool their capital, share workloads. typically found in professional services (dentists, doctors)
- companies owned by shareholders who put money into a central pool. directors run the company
- private companies Ltd after name! normally small businesses, that want to keep the control of the business within the family. Shares can only be bought and sold with permission of the board of directors.
- public company shares are traded on the stock exchange. large amounts of money can be raised very quickly
