  • Summary A programme is a set of related projects and organisational changes put in place to achieve strategic objectives and to deliver the benfits that the organisation expects. Programme orientation is the decision to apply and manage the concept of "managing by programmes" and the development of competence in programme management. Programme management is the process of managing several related projects, often with the intention of improving an organisation's performance. In practice and in its purpose, it is often closely related to systems engineering and industrial engineering. Multi-project management is a set of methods an organisation can use to enable management of multiple projects, it addresses the coordination of project activities across multiple projects of an organisation. A programme manager is responsible for the programme's success. The programme's success is highly dependent on the success of multiple projects that are part of the programme. The role of a programme manager, however, is different from the role of a multi-project manager.
