- most common urea cycle disorder

- X-linked recessive (vs other urea cycle enzyme deficiencies!)

- often present in the first few days of life

- ↑ orotic acid in blood and urine- ↓ BUN (blood urea nitrogen)- symptoms of hyperammonemia- no megaloblastic anemia (vs orotic aciduria)
