Filovirus (enveloped, ⊝ ssRNA)- Transmission requires direct contact with bodily fluids, fomites (including dead bodies), bats or primates (apes/monkeys); high incidence of nosocomial infection.- Targets endothelial cells, phagocytes, hepatocytes

- Incubation period up to 21 days

Presentation:- Abrupt onset of flu-like symptoms- Diarrhea/vomiting- High fever- Myalgia- Can progress to DIC, hemorrhage, shock

- Diagnosed with RT-PCR within 48h of symptom onset.

- Supportive care, no definitive treatment. Strict isolation of infected individuals and barrier practices for health care workers are key to preventing transmission.- High mortality rate
