- Pneumonia: Community-acquired, most often older males, most commonly those with chronic lung disease, alcoholism, or diabetes. Often aspirated.- Nosocomial UTI: from fecal contamination of catheters- Septicemia: in immunocompromised patients, may originate from bowel defect

- Associated with evolution of multidrug resistance (MDR).

Treatment: 3rd generation cephalosporin, fluorochinolones
